RUC-Kirsten B. Akehurst Memorial Endowed Scholarship

The Kirsten B. Akehurst Memorial Endowed Scholarship was created by the Akehurst family in 1997 after Kirsten’s passing to honor her memory as daughter and sister. The scholarship was transferred to Jefferson College of Health Sciences in 2015 and will continue on with Radford University Carilion (RUC) in the future.

  • Funds from this scholarship shall provide assistance for tuition, books, and other related fees to students enrolled in the RUC Occupational Therapy (OT) or Occupational Therapy Assistant Programs (OTA)
  • Students must have completed their first year of study in either the OT or OTA programs with a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need
  • Priority will be given to students from southwestern Virginia

I agree to allow RUC to share my scholarship application, academic data and FAFSA data (EFC and remaining need, if a FAFSA is on file) as well as my contact information with Carilion’s Foundation Board so that they may make a final determination on whether I will be awarded one or more of Carilion’s Education Foundation Scholarships. I understand that Carilion’s Foundation Board will use my contact information to notify me of any scholarships for which I have been selected.
