Bethany Lorraine Rooker Dance Scholarship

Scholarship Information

Mr. Greg Rooker, former Foundation Board of Directors member and his wife, Mrs. Fran Rooker `79 endowed this scholarship in 2007 in memory of Mr. Rooker’s mother, Bethany Lorraine Richter Rooker. Mrs. Rooker founded her own dance studio when she was sixteen and was a dance instructor for Dance Masters of America and professional model in Chicago and Miami. She was active in numerous charitable organizations including the Red Cross, Literacy Volunteers of America, Junior Women’s Club and the American Heart Association. She and her husband, Daniel J. Rooker, were active in the founding and support of New River Community College. The nursing wing of NRCC and an endowed scholarship are named in her honor.

Scholarship Criteria

  • Scholarship recipient must be a Radford University student in good standing who is working toward a degree.
  • Recipient must be enrolled in at least one dance technique course each semester and perform in the department productions.
