Bruns-Whiddon Scholarship

Scholarship Information

Mrs. Joyce Whiddon Bruns, a 1967 Radford alumna, established this scholarship in order to help students in special education or communication sciences disorders. The scholarship was named in honor of her grandparents, who were influential in raising her, and in honor of her husband’s parents. Mrs. Bruns was a special education major, a member of the Radford University Foundation Board of Directors and recipient of the RU Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award. She served as chair of the Foundation Scholarship Selection committee.

Scholarship Criteria

  • Applicants must be a full-time student with have upper-class status.
  • Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • Must be an Interdisciplinary Studies Major with a concentration in Special Education or a Communication Sciences and Disorders major.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership qualities in clubs or organizations at Radford.
