Beth Carlson Nelson Scholarship

Scholarship Information

In honor of her many years of dedication and commitment to enhancing the field of education, a scholarship fund was established in the name of Dr. Beth Carlson Nelson, `55. Dr. Nelson, who received degrees from Radford College, Virginia Tech, and University of Virginia, made quite extensive contributions to the elementary, secondary, collegiate, and international levels of teaching. Having once served as the President of the Virginia Education Association, Dr. Nelson was also responsible for directing Virginia’s only Center for Cognitive Teaching and Learning.

Scholarship Criteria

  • Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in the School of Teacher Education and Leadership.
  • Be pursuing initial license or endorsement.
  • Must maintain a minimum 2.75 GPA undergraduate and a 3.0 GPA graduate.
